Facial treatment prep

Preparing your skin properly before your facial helps ensure you receive the best possible results from your treatment. A few simple adjustments in the days leading up to your appointment can enhance your glow, reduce sensitivity, and allow your skin to fully benefit from each step of your facial. Here’s how to arrive relaxed, prepared, and ready to glow.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water before and after your facial. Proper hydration helps support lymphatic drainage during facial massage, encourages the body’s natural detoxification process, and keeps your skin plump, balanced, and radiant. Well-hydrated skin responds more effectively to professional treatments and holds onto results longer.

Skip Harsh Scrubs & Masks

Avoid exfoliating scrubs, peels, or active masks for several days prior to your appointment. Over-exfoliation can cause irritation or sensitivity that may be amplified during your facial. Instead, keep your routine simple with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer to maintain a calm, healthy skin barrier.

Pause Retinol Use

Discontinue retinol or prescription-strength vitamin A products three days before your facial. Retinol can increase sensitivity, and taking a short break helps prevent irritation during treatment. You may safely resume retinol three days after your facial unless otherwise advised.

Limit Sun Exposure

Avoid prolonged sun exposure leading up to your appointment. Sunburned skin is often too compromised to tolerate advanced treatments. If you do arrive with sun sensitivity, your facial will be adjusted to focus on calming and repair — incorporating ultra-soothing CBD skincare and cooling ice globes to reduce inflammation and restore comfort.

Think About Your Skin Goals

Before your visit, take a moment to consider what you’d like to achieve — whether it’s improved hydration, anti-aging, acne support, barrier repair, or overall glow. Open communication allows your facial to be fully customized to your needs. If appropriate, we can also create a long-term treatment plan or refine your home skincare routine to better support your goals.
